Miniature Painting update

I've managed to get my Mummy finished, and almost finished the Ork Slugga Boys for Warhammer 40k - but it's been slow going.

Something I've realised about my miniature wargaming and painting hobby is that I've always been more of a gamer than a painter.

Hence I have a huge amount of unpainted miniatures for war games that have been played with but not painted yet.

I've made the decision to clear out quite a lot of my unpainted collection.

I play mostly skirmish level games anyway, in fact the biggest warhammer or warhammer 40k game I've played in the last 3-5 years has been 1000pts.

So, I'm going to downsize my collection which has three benefits:

1. Makes a bit of money (hopefully)
2. Cuts down on how much I need to paint - I'm not a base coat and dip painter so go a bit slow for army painting anyway.
3. Make some room for some new stuff (I'm going to start looking at some of the pre-painted miniature games that are available).

Does this mean I'm turning away from miniature painting? No, it just means I can spend more time on each miniature and not feel rushed because I've got a huge unpainted mountain staring at me.

It's been a big decision to make but now I've made it I feel like a weight has lifted from my shoulders and hope it will mean I'll feel less guilty when buying new stuff.

I'll be rationalising my collection over the next month along with painting the stuff currently on the table.
