World of Twilight - alternative fantasy skirmish game

Hasslefree Miniatures have published a new game (along with the range of miniatures) called World of Twilight.

Oh and just in case you're stumbled into this blog looking for that teenage Vampire that's sweeping the entertainment world - it's got absolutely nothing to do with that!

The World of Twilight game and setting is the work of creator Mike Thorp, who along with designing and developing the setting and 'look and feel' of the races populating the world is also the sculptor of the miniatures. A very talented (and incredibly busy) fellow he must be.

I bought the Small Starter seen below. The shot was taken a week or so ago, the rulebook is a bit battered, even though it's brand new I've reread it several times and bent and battered it in the process. I'm incredibly heavy-handed with books (I crack spines on novels on a regular basis so I don't borrow books!).

I've already put a few of the miniatures together (they're multi-part metals), I've also got the Trade Caravan which isn't pictured here and I hope to write a review of the game and miniatures, along with a battle report once I've played a few games in the next month or so.

The miniatures are 28mm scale although the two races released so far are above and below this height. By way of an example I've shot a comparison photo using one of GW's Space Marine miniatures to illustrate the relative sizes.

Apologies for the poor quality - it's from my phone which doesn't 'do' close-up stuff. You can see the relative sizes though.

I'll be taking better quality photos once I have the minis constructed and start painting. If I remember to do it I'll take WIPs as I go along. Check back again or 'follow me' to read my review and see any WIPs over the next few months.

  1. Cool. Nice to see a comparison shot with a human sized model - I never thought to actually do that...
I'll be watching your progress with interest :)

  2. Thanks for dropping by Mike. It'll probably be a case of progress in 'fits and starts' due to life just getting in the way but I hope to be in a position to play a game with painted minis within the next month.

I figured showing the minis next to a Space Marine was the easiest way to show casual observers how big they are - most tabletop gamers know how big a GW mini is. :)

Thanks for looking at my blog and taking the time to make a comment. Please keep it clean, it's a family show, many thanks in advance. :-)

Note to Firefox users - I'm using embedded comments and have found that Firefox on a mac doesn't seem to work with it (at least for me). Safari works fine though.
